The opening yesterday evening was a” bit long “ , but everybody who is important in this JWGC could say his or her word. The mayor has put a lot of effort in coming here and by inviting the organizers in his beautiful office, to explain very clearly, that the JWGC has the full support of the town and the Province. Not only now but also for next years World Championships. They even want more world comps in the future!

In between the pilots, crew and team captains patiently waited in the sun. They marched in behind the military band under loud applause. The Lithuanians have unfortunately not made it here, so we have 54 participants from 16 different countries under them 2 female pilots ; Kathy from the USA and Jennifer from South Africa.
All pilots looked well in their team outfit. With their brown faces and big smiles, they look extremely healthy and all seem ready and eager to go for it!!!!

SO…TODAY IS THE DAY!!!!
The first briefing from the 5th Junior World Gliding Championships is at 10.30. A lot of gliders have been brought to the strip straight at 9!
The organization started at 7.30 , the meteo people look with interest to their laptop info and the task setter wants to set a bit longer, but still very safe tasks for the pilots. It seems that this week’s weather remains as it is , though temperatures should drop a bit. But who cares when we had around 34, 35 last week. We are happy with 30 or 31 too.
