This is the Soaring Spot Test Site. It behaves exactly the same as the live Soaring Spot except a) Uploads are ignored and b) it always returns the same flight for download.

Bulletin 3:

1.        Currently we have 30 entries. 

2.        Airspace - a Notam will be issued shortly.  There will be a 5 nm buffer zone around all TMA airspace.  Pilots must ensure they have uploaded the correct Airspace File, which is now available on the SSSA website: www.sssa.org.za or www.soaringspot.com under Downloads, 2011 Nationals Airspace v1.3.

3.        Local Procedures are being finalised and will also be on SSSA website www.sssa.org.za or www.soaringspot.com under Downloads, 2011 Nationals Local Procedures.

4.        Handicaps – are about to be finalised – please check on website: www.sssa.org.za or www.soaringspot.com

5.        Supper will be provided at the airfield after the Mandatory Pilots’ Briefing on Sat. 10th December.  The cost thereof will be hosted by SSSA.

6.        Catering (snacks during the day, and dinner, and breakfast from 11th Dec., as well as liquid refreshments) will be available to purchase at the airfield throughout the contest.  You will be asked to put your account in credit with the Caterers at the start of the contest.

7.        The Closing Dinner on 22nd December will cost R150.00 per person.

8.        Competing pilots should preferably have their own crew, if at all possible.  As there is invariably a shortage of helpers on the ground, please be prepared to assist and help with launching of those pilots ahead of you on the grid.

9.        Requirements for the S.African licence validations for overseas competitors will be as last year.  Overseas competitors flying SA registered gliders must ensure they have a temporary SA validation.

10.     Those using hand-held or base ground stations are required to have a radio licence for the radio.

11.     Those pilots who won trophies at the 2010 SA Nationals are reminded to ensure that they are returned, (duly engraved and polished) to Welkom by 22nd December 1011 at the latest.
