After a nervous wait... The were launched
Although one competitior on the first row of the grid, did tow his glider back to the launch point to find he had not hitched the glider on and it was still back at the point he started the tow from.
There was some discussion of the thermals fading, and then only going to 2,500 ft.
Then suddenly it started working and the Lanch was on.
All gliders are expected back about 17:35 EST daylight.
Then the PARTY is on
The last task has been set for the competition and it is a 3 hour AAT. The tasks is rectangular and points may be assigned for the most accurate flight or the most divergent flight. Then maybe not! The dinner will commence at 7.30 ish and will be a terrifc show with trophy presentation after the main course. Late lodgers of logs will be humilated during desert by the contest director

Thursday's task was an exciting event with all coming over a very short time span for both classes. Some of the mountain area was hard work and for some the view of tree tops and unlandable areas showed how careful these competition pilotsare

A 4.5 hour AAT with the third leg going to Mt Buller. Perhaps some will stop for a little skiing! There is a prospect of blue skies with some Cu over the mountains. A strong day to 7,500ft+ is forecast with the day ending quite late. Marshalling will commence at 1045, with an early launch. Club class will launch first

Most pilots from both classes flew around the course. There was only 2 outlandings. There was some streeting and the leaders succeeded in about 85km/hr speeds

The day proved to be much softer. While initially to 5,000ft, the later parts of the task was lower than 3500ft. 8 Sports class outlanded and half the club class feet!

The winds have dropped and thermals are expeted to be a little stronger. A taks of 3 hours AAT has been set with Marshalling starting at 11.15 Launching is expected at 12.30

They all were at the Grid....The sniffer found lift to 5,000ft They waited... last minute the task was shortened to 2.5 hour AAT The Sports Class launched. They circled.. progressively moving down wind.... Then some began struggling. Club class then Held..... Then the day was cancelled for both classes! Some of the Sports Class flew on. Most returned and all of Club class returned to the tie down.

A three hour AAT with three areas has been set for both classes (To Euroa, Berrigan and Winton). Marshalling will start at 1115 and complete at 12:15. Sports Class will grid first. Its estimated to be 30C and thermals to 4500ft.

Allan Barnes and Lisa Trotter won their respective Classes for yesterdays Race. Lisa acknowledged Terry Cubley's advice from the previous day to stay high in the height bands. Terry responded that if someone had have told him "he would have done better!". Allan felt that he had a lucky day, but his explanation of his strategy showed he was performing at his characteristc high level.
