PILOT INFORMATION AND LOCAL CONTEST RULES
- All thermalling within 10kms of the airfield will be left hand.
- Within 10 kms of the airfield all traffic will use 134.45 mhz
except in MBZ. Contest channel 133.55 mhz must be monitored except in
airspace.
- Starts are to be given on 133.55 mhz within 30 mins of starting.
- Ops normal calls on 133.55 Mhz at least every hour, or when requested. Please include leg no.
- Do not Taxi or use a motor in rigging or tie down areas.
- Gliders may not be towed to grid during the launch when using runway 22.
- Vehicles left on the airfield are to be parked in the designated areas.
- Pilots without crew must have their vehicle attached to trailer ready for a retrieve, key on rego board
- Pilots shall complete landout sheets after a land out and hand in
to clubhouse. This must include the land out co-ordinates in degrees,
minutes and dec. mins and landowners name and phone number. Please make
every attempt to contact owner of field or strip prior to retrieve.
- Aircraft shall announce finish at 5 NM. and again at 2 NM. on 134.45 mhz Centennial Park traffic
- Pilots choosing a high-energy finish are to advise Centennial Park
traffic on 134.45 mhz of their intentions. Pilots will fly through on
the west side of the airfield over the private road, and then complete
a normal circuit. Minimum finishing altitude for high-energy finish is
100 ft AGL. Pilots must be aware of other traffic when turning on their
base leg. See airfield circuit plan.
- Danger area. Ground to 3000' Beware the model aerodrome in the centre of the Horse Racing track. Do not overfly.
- Due to many areas of poor phone coverage, pilots should try to
broadcast land-out position before landing. All position reports shall
be in degs. mins and dec. mins. Airborne pilots to assist with position
relays.
- TAUPO MBZ.
Taupo MBZ operates on 118.4 and requires a position report every 10 minutes and an operating mode c
Transponder. Be aware that other users of the mbz may lay a complaint if you do not comply with these requirements.
Gliders
transiting eg. Kaimanawas to Centennial or vice versa, should broadcast
position, altitude and intentions on 118.40 Mhz and x/ponder on mode c.
- Start point 201 Start A Deer Park is near the NE MBZ boundary.
Please have your x/ponder on mode c and advise when entering the MBZ.
This can be a busy arrival point for aircraft joining for Taupo
airport. Keep a good lookout at all times.
- The special airspace arranged for the Nationals is comprehensive
and no other airspace will be available for competitors. Maps will be
available.
